Fullerton Arms: Specialists in carpentry & interior furnishing. Welcome to our Review site.
People can get attached to things, it is normal in a world where everything is personified. We name our car, attribute personality to our pets and everything else from our clothing to our electronic gizmos has a place in our hearts. Either through shared experience or the time consumed in their choosing things mean things to us. Furnishings are no different, paintings, table sets, the couch that seems to knead out the knots in your back, all have meaning all have a personality that matches our own.
Most importantly all have value and leaving them behind as we set up shop in different locations should not be an option. Acquiring International furniture shipping services is not the easiest task you will perform today. Trust is as important as price when it comes to moving your most cherished possessions around the globe. Taking on a provider who knows what these items mean to you is the only option. You are seeking a strong track record in hassle free movement, in damage free movement and you need your furnishings shipped at a cost appropriate to your budget. (more...) A garden can be so many things to different people. It can be a space for the entire family to get together, a playground for the kids, and a place where you can contemplate and have a quiet moment all to yourself. The right garden furniture can add a lot to your garden, but in order to get good use out of it, it is important to maintain it well.
Maintaining furnishings well will not only make them last longer, but also keep them looking fresh and new. Old looking and unclean furniture can make the entire garden look unkempt and wild, which is another good reason to look after your furnishings well. Organic materials like wicker, wood and rattan garden furniture especially need to be maintained in order to increase their life. Moulds and mildew can also grow on plastic as well as organic furniture and can damage the material, so always make sure your furnishings are free of these predators. (more...) Furnishing is largely a matter of personal taste and choice. However, there are some basic rules of design and aesthetics that can help us fine tune designs and ideas in a better manner. This article gives some basic tips on how to choose the right furnishings for your home. Good design inspires some reaction in our minds. Whether we like it or not is a different matter, but that clever design elicits a feeling or reaction is a fact. Furniture comes in different styles and themes, and to make your furniture work, it needs to work well with the decor of your home. For example, if you have a warm and earthy feel to your room, you will probably do well to bring in wooden finish or wicker furniture. Rattan furniture works well indoors as well as outdoors and has a light, comfortable and inviting character. (more...) If you have either re-styled your garden, or are planning to in the future, then you may be considering adding some garden furniture as part of its finishing touches. Long gone are the days when the only furniture available was white plastic chairs and tables. Now, there is a bewildering array of choices. There has been a rise in the number of people buying high quality furniture for the outdoors in recent years, partly because of the similar rise in popularity of decking, but also because, quite frankly it looks a great deal nicer than the cheaper items! Now, there are exquisite teak and other hardwood tables and chairs available, which are solid looking, tough and durable. They look the part as well and add a real sense of style to any garden. (more...) If you are buying furniture, it pays to carefully choose the type of wood as it has its own characteristics and levels of durability. Some types of wood are much more pleasing to the eye, others are more cost effective and yet others will last for much longer than other types of wood. Many people like reclaimed teak. It is kinder to the planet, and is a very durable wood, as well as looking great. It is also very popular for garden furniture as it is so hardy. Oak looks great, but can be expensive; however some of my favourite pieces of furniture in my house are made from oak as it will last for years and years and even looks better as it gets older. Pine is less expensive but it is a much softer wood and can easily be marked. If you are on a budget though, there is a great range of affordable furniture made from pine. (more...) House prices are affected by many different factors. The general market trend coupled with the location of the property are the biggest deciders; but things such as the street, positioning, view, upkeep and value addition also play an important role in determining the value of a particular property.
Sellers often strive to add value to a property by carrying out extensions or refurbishing a house. Furnishing a house before a sale can also add value to it. Buyers are often impressed by impeccable furnishing and decor, so it is a good idea to give a house an overhaul before putting it on the market.
A fresh and clean property is likely to appeal to buyers as opposed to a drab and washed out and even worse, an unclean house. A simple furnishing makeover, with fresh artwork, clean and bright soft furnishings and a neutral decor theme are some ways to hike up your chances to sell.

Furnishing a house need not be an exorbitantly costly affair at all. In fact, look in the right places and you will be surprised as to how far your money can go!
Furnishing an entire house on a small budget can be quite daunting, and compromise is certainly necessary. For example, one might have to get second hand furniture as opposed to brand new, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. There are plenty of second hand furniture stores and one can mix and match pieces to create a fantastic decor. As I said before, compromise may be necessary when money is a constraint. What you need and what you want may be two different things and it is important to separate the two. Concentrate on what you need and sort that out first. (more...) If you have the task of kitting out your new house or apartment from scratch, it can be pretty difficult to know where to start and what type of style to use. It is all too easy to spend days choosing different sofas or bookcases of your choice, and have them delivered only to find that they just do not look good together. Many people like to start with a mood board which is just any old piece of board where they can gather snippets of materials or shades of paint. If you have a mood board per room that you have to decorate and furnish, you can put all your ideas down first to check that they come together coherently. (more...) Some people prefer the way their house or apartment looks rather than how convenient it is to live in. They prefer that their place is immaculate and showy rather than comfortable. You know the type of house I mean, the type where the sofa is designer and usually white or cream, and totally uncomfortable. Houses are meant to be lived in, to live your everyday life in, and as such you cannot expect it to be perfect all the time. A happy home is usually a slightly messy home, especially if there are kids involved, and a little mess never hurt anybody, as long as it is kept clean. How many times have I seen beds with so many throws and ornate cushions that it must take half an hour every day just to get the bed ready to climb in? How many times have I seen kitchens which are beautifully designed with the latest expensive Italian gadgets and French cookware, which are never actually used for cooking as the owner does not want to get it dirty? (more...) When it comes to home furnishing, I like to think that I keep abreast of trends and even better, I like to sniff out styles and themes which are just that little bit out of the ordinary. You know that a style has been done to death when it starts appearing in every page of a home magazine or even worse in the budget shops and DIY stores. That is why I love to keep an eye out for unusual pieces such as wall letters or small antiques, things that I know will define my style and not follow the crowd. I want to feel confident that when friends and family come round for dinner or a drink they are not going to have the same blinds or ornaments as me. (more...)
